Biblical Inspiration:
Hebrews 11:3 - “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” (NIV)
Isaiah 44:6 - “…I am the first and the last; apart from me there is no God.” (NIV)
John 10:30 - “[Jesus answered,] I and the Father are one.” (NIV)
Note from the composer: I was thinking about the fact that we now know the universe is much bigger than scientists thought only a few years ago. And it’s also much smaller and more complex than what man used to think. In the early 1800s the atom was thought to be the smallest, indivisible particle of matter. But in 1897 the electron was discovered. In the 20th century further discoveries revealed the atomic nucleus, protons, neutrons and eventually fundamental particles like quarks. And it was not until 1986 that DNA was understood to the point of being used to solve a criminal case. Knowing all of this, how can we refuse to believe that there is a God who created all of this, and further, that He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins?
LYRICS
VERSE 1
Who could create the two trillion galaxies that scientists see?
And so many more uncountable ones to infinity’s reach?
PRE-CHORUS
Who could make that all come true?
The impossible to do
The Old, the New, the Last, the First:
The Mighty God of the Universe!
CHORUS
He is the Father who made us
The Spirit, the Savior
He is the God of the Universe
Who gave Himself to save us
In the human form of Jesus
He is the God of the Universe
The Mighty God of the Universe!
VERSE 2
How can there be some eight billion people on the planet today
With similar bodies, yet every one has its own DNA?
(PRE-CHORUS)
(CHORUS)
